![]() If you're an activist, and you've been ticked off that folks don't "get the message" or they don't join in the protests and demos and vigils and meetings with members of Congress or city council or planning boards ... Now's your chance to change that. We have one of the biggest events coming up – our Rolling Thunder Downhome Democracy Tour – that has come this way in a long time. And You Can Be Part of the Action! Help out, join in the fun, make the fun, hear the national and local speakers, enjoy the music, try out the tables with their information and their excitement. We are expecting national speakers such as Jim Hightower and Patch Adams and local speakers such as Lloyd Daniel and John Stufflebean. We'll have great musical performers, such as Dakota Dave Hull and Blue 88. There will be delicious food for sale, and plenty of top-notch workshops to improve your activist skills. We’re making real progress in our preparations. The schedule is settling down, and the spacing of people, music, workshops, and vendors is being finalized. Publicity is coming out, flyers are being distributed, and tickets are on sale at Bloomsday Books, It's a Beautiful Day, Mountain Music Shoppe, Prosperos Books, Recycled Sounds, Hollywood at Home, Rainbow Pet Hospital, Sacred Earth Arts and Local Harvest. Don’t miss your chance to get involved. Lots of people will be needed at various times, so join the fun of making Rolling Thunder happen. Volunteers are needed for: hosting speakers; setting up and taking down the tents; setting up and putting away the chairs and tables; disposing of trash; selling tickets; directing people to places where things are happening; and on and on. Contact Kris Cheatum (816-561-1181) to put your name in for the activity of your choice. And come to the next meeting of the large group at the Westport Library on September 18 at 7:00 p.m. You've wanted help ... here it is, part bootstrap and part participation. Come! |

If you're ticked off that people don't join the protests or other actions, maybe you should angle your events a little differently. Try also communicating with people of color to avoid the impression you're an all-white movement. |

Roberto, I don't mean to be insensitive or naive but what are your suggestions on how to get people of color involved? I'd love to get people of color involved but I'm not really sure how to do that. |

I'm an 'activist'... well was. I'm all ticked off that the 'movement' is nothing more than an attempt to create a more democratic looking facade. Our 'resistence' is defined wholly by what the powers that be say we can do. For many the 501c3 tax exempt status is more important than actually supporting democracy. Gotta keep them dollars coming in! Guess what kids, we will never be able to compete against wealth with wealth. The deck is waaaaay too stacked against us. So these circular motions known as 'movement' is just another fucking lie to help us 'caring folk' reduce our own complicit guilt. If we had any true desire to resist, we would have filled the prisons by now. Until 'the movement' realizes the level of sacrifice required to ensure liberty, we are truly fucked. My hat goes off to all the brave souls who truly do resist. I am not that strong, so I have to wait for the faux movement to be replaced by a real one. |

Seattle Thunder has embraced the 9-11 Truth Movement. It is critical that this issue be put to the fore of ALL Rolling Thunder groups, ESPECIALLY KC. Why? Bush convinced America that in order to stop future 9-11's, they must A) accept "endless war" abroad, and B)Surrender civil liberties at home. The 9-11 truth reveals none of that is necessary and in fact IF BUSH et al HAD DONE THEIR JOBS before and on 9-11, 9-11 would NOT have happened. 9-11 Cover Up by Bush is THE ISSUE OF OUR TIME. Visit www.septembereleventh.org and get involved. The first week the site appeared it got 75,000 hits. Bill Douglas, 9-11 Visibility Project - KC www.septembereleventh.org |

Bill, that was kind of a non sequitur, n'est-ce-pas? |
