Re: Behind the Iron Curtain

Why is it that every time there is domestic repression people feel the need to make comparisons to communism or to the Soviet Union? The US has had a long history of repression, at times brutal but consistently political in nature. This phenomenon started in 1492 but has remained in force. Consider: the bloody repression of labor in the 19th century; the Palmer Raids; McCarthyism; Wounded Knee; Attica; CointelPro and so on. The comparisons to communism are absurd: This is homeland repression, American style.
