Want to help support alternative culture and spaces in Kansas City?
Kansas City folks and friends from our suburban hinterlands are invited to the first Radical Film Night at the Creative Mind Arts Center. This first film night will happen this Thursday, February 23, 2006. The doors open at 7:45 and the films start at 8 pm. Radical Film Nights will continue on the second and fourth Thursdays in upcoming months, with the doors opening at 7 pm on those nights.
The Creative Mind Arts Center is located at 3109 Troost in Kansas City, Missouri. Films are free, but donations will benefit the CMAC and the Crossroads Bookstore.
Popcorn and drinks will be available. Books, magazines and other stuff will be for sale on the Crossroads Bookstore tables.

Our film this week will be "Boxcar Bertha," a 1972 Martin Scorsese film featuring Barbara Hershey and David Carradine. It is based on a book by Ben L. Reitman, who was one of Emma Goldman's lovers. We'll start the night with a short video on the McLibel Trial.
Future film nights will hopefully start off with short films and cartoons.
Upcoming Radical Film Nights
Thursday, March 9: TBA (possibly "Manufacturing Consent" w/ Noam Chomsky)
Thursday, March 23: TBA
Thursday, April 13: TBA, Do The Right Thing

The CMAC is also hosting film nights on Fridays and Saturdays. Check with the CMAC for more details.
