Kansas City is Strange Current rating: 0

This past election was strange, and to me, very disappointing. I had very high hopes that, with this election, we could make a change in American policy for the better. It didn’t turn out that way. In fact, about the only highlight of the election, for me, was the victory of Emmanuel Cleaver over a person I had really grown to dislike over the course of the campaign, Jeanne Patterson. Had she been victorious, thanks to the nearly $3million that she spent from her own deep pockets, I might have joined Andrew Veal in suicide protest. Of course, I am kidding, with no disrespect to Andrew’s fiancée and family intended, but this election really was a disaster.

On November 3, I thought (expletive, or um, fuck!), what the hell is going on in the world, I’ve got to do something. What I decided to do, among other things, is begin yet another blog.

I know what you’re thinking. When I think of blogs, I think of some guy or girl talking about what they did last night, what movies they’ve seen lately, and other random thoughts that have no business being published anywhere, even on the internet. There aren’t many blogs that I can read on a regular basis without having to sift through cheesy personal reflections (it’s like listening to someone talk about a dream they had).

I decided to make a blog that was not about myself, because, I am really not very interesting, but a blog that would serve as a forum for current events in the world and in Kansas City. I wanted to create a blog that would stimulate discussion on these current events, especially those here in Kansas City. I wanted to create a blog that might someday become influential, even if only on the smallest of scales. I wanted to create a blog with integrity (if there is such a thing), so what I have done, is basically, modeled this blog after Indymedia.

I hope that you will join me in attempting to raise the level of discussion and thought on the things that are important to all of us. Please join me in doing so at the stranger. I am not the first person to do this, and I will not be the last, good.
