16,000 Protest the U.S.-Run School of the Americas Current rating: 0
23 Nov 2004
"Protesters, joined by Martin Sheen and Susan Sarandon, participated in a demonstration against the School of the Americas, which trains soldiers, police and government officials. They allege that the school’s graduates go on to commit murder, rape and torture. SOA Watch, which monitors the institution, claims some of the school’s graduates were involved in human rights abuses in the 80s and now exploit people and resources in Latin America."
"At least 20 people were arrested Sunday while protesting a U.S.-run military school for Latin Americans, some of whose graduates they claim later committed civil rights abuses including murder."
