We are inviting applications from aspiring singers with artistry and talent, who wish to improve their vocal technique and study oratorio, opera and German romantic Lied repertoire.
The master classes will address the singers individual requirements i.e., stage poise, audition preparations, vocal and breathing techniques and professional contacts.
A concluding concert will be presented to the Berlin public during the XX. Black International Cinema Berlin 2005, May 5 - 8. The master classes and concert will be conducted by Prof. Norma Sharp and Ms. Nena Brzakovic.
MAY VOICES IN BERLIN 2005 participants, ages 16 – 35, will be selected on a basis of submitted tapes or CD's. Please mail the audition materials to Prof. Norma Sharp, Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“, Charlottenstr. 55, 10117 Berlin/Germany, by March 15, 2005.
Please include name, address and age information.
Those invited artists will engage in 5 hour daily classes with Prof. Norma Sharp and Ms. Nena Brzakovic.
Participating artists will be required to pay a fee of 250,00 Euros for master classes and concert.
For those wishing to monitor/observe classes, the fee is 125,00 Euros.
The daily class observation fee is 30,00 Euros.

Wir freuen uns über Bewerbungen von aufstrebenden SängerInnen mit künstlerischer Begabung und Talent, die sich wünschen, ihre stimmliche Technik zu verbessern und Oratorium, Oper und das deutsche romantische Liedrepertoire zu studieren. Die Meisterklassen werden die individuellen Anforderungen der SängerInnen berücksichtigen, d.h., Bühnenpräsenz, Vorbereitung für das Vorsingen, Stimm- und Atemtechnik und die Bereitstellung von professionellen Kontakten.
Ein Abschlusskonzert wird der Berliner Öffentlichkeit während des XX. Black International Cinema Berlin 2005, 5.-8. Mai, präsentiert. Die Meisterklassen und das Konzert werden von Prof. Norma Sharp und Frau Nena Brzakovic geleitet.
Die TeilnehmerInnen an MAI STIMMEN IN BERLIN 2005, im Alter von 16 – 35 Jahren, werden auf der Basis von eingereichten Cassetten oder CDs ausgewählt. Bitte schicken Sie die Bewerbungsunterlagen bis zum 15. März 2005 zu Prof. Norma Sharp, Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“, Charlottenstr. 55, 10117 Berlin/Deutschland. Bitte teilen Sie uns Ihren Namen, Adresse und Ihr Alter mit.
Die eingeladenen KünstlerInnen erhalten täglich 5 Stunden Unterricht bei Prof. Norma Sharp und Frau Nena Brzakovic.
Teilnehmende KünstlerInnen werden gebeten, eine Gebühr von 250,00 Euro für Meisterklassen und Konzert zu zahlen. Von denjenigen, die wünschen, die Klassen zu beobachten, erbeten wir eine Gebühr von 125,00 Euro. Die Gebühr für die Beobachtung einzelner Klassen beträgt 30,00 Euro.

Grownupism!
1 Day, When I Grow Up!
So, as usual, I wuz sittin' an' stinkin' 'bout my life an' how am I ever gonna git outta the dragon teecher's klutches or git on her good side an' outta my slave skool?
I meen, peeple talk 'bout ol' Stetson Hat has a hard Prez job, but they don't say anythin' 'bout how he whined, dined an' played goody twoshoes so's to slip under the wire – claimin' he had sum kinda mandate to keep on doin' wut he's doin'!
I guess no woman wuld be in on this date, an' that's why ol' Stetson Hat calls it a MANdate!
Well, naturally, the dragon teecher wants a paper on this mandate an' Prez's prospects for the next long, hard, forever four years.
I meen, wut does she think us kidz have in our skool bags; crystal balls, fortune teller kits, magnifyin' glasses an' lie detector kits, plus books?
I wunder if ol' Stetson Hat knows wut he's gonna do, while the stilts of his house start krumblin' down 'round him, his boyz an' gurl, an' the rest of the wurl!?
On top of alla this, I gotta think 'bout Valentine's Day an' how I'm gonna work with that cute gurl who's got her eye on me! HaHa!
O.K., I gotta admit, I kinda like her too, but I can't let nobody know 'bout all this likin' stuff!
It's embarrasin'.
Anywho, I think I can work out the gurl stuff, but I need Granma an' Papa to tell me 'bout ol' Stetson Hat's "wayz" for the comin' years.
So Granma sez, "we've got troubles on our hands for some time to come.
The government needs money, the people need jobs, both wars are going on and on and costing more lives and money every day and ol' Stetson Hat is still playing John Wayne to the hilt, with cameras everywhere, but without a script that brings an end to some of this/his or our mess!
Nowhere near, a happy ending for anybody!"
Papa sez, "the whole situation is discouraging, but we have to find a way out of this hole, even if ol' Stetson Hat is constantly turning out the lights and putting grease on the 'out ladder', trying to keep everybody in darkness and sliding downward, as fast as he can!
He's hoping people are too frustrated and tired to bother with his plans to promote himself from ol' Stetson Hat to Emperor the First!"
So, I got the info for my skool paper an' even if it's discouragin' stuff, I'm gonna write it down an' hope I catch the dragon's good side, at grade time.
Now, all I gotta do is be kool an' take good care of that cute gurl for Valentine's Day!
If ol' Stetson Hat can pull off the trick he did, I'm sure I can work a little magic on that cute gurl!
I betcha I can do it!
So, I'm gonna sleep on it an' wake up ready for action –

Erwachsensein!
Eines Tages, wenn ich erwachsen werde!
Also, wie üblich war ich am Sitz'n und Stink'n üba mein Leben und wie ich jemals aussen Klauen von der Drachenlehrerin komm' oder ihre gute Seite erwisch' und aus meiner Sklavenschule komm'?
Ich mein', die Leute red'n davon, was olle Texashut für'n harten Präsi–Job hat, sag'n aber übahaupt nix davon, wie er gewimmert und gewuselt und den Scherzkeks gespielt hat, um unter'm Drahtzaun durchzuschlüpfen – und behauptet, er hätte irgend so'n Manndat(e) dafür, mit dem weiterzumachen, was er macht!
Ich denk' ma', keine Frau würd' sich auf so'n Dat(e) einlassen und deshalb nennt es olle Texashut MANNdat(e)!
Nun, natürlich will die Drachenlehrerin 'ne Hausarbeit üba dieses Manndat und üba die Aussichten vom Präsi für die nächsten langen, harten, ewigen vier Jahre.
Ich mein', was denkt die sich, was wir Kinder in unser'n Schultaschen hab'n; Kristallkugeln, Wahrsager–Monturen, Vergrößerungsgläser und Lügendetektor–Ausrüstungen, und dazu noch Bücher?
Ich frag' mich, ob olle Texashut weiß, was er tun wird, während die Pfeiler seines Hauses anfang'n zu brökeln, um ihn herum und seinen Jungs und sei'm Mädel und dem Rest der Welt!?
Obendrein muss ich üba 'n Valentinstag nachdenk'n und wie ich das mit dem süßen Mädchen anstelle, die sich in mich vakuckt hat! Ha, Ha!
Okay, ich muss zugeb'n, ich mag sie auch irgendwie, aber ich darf niemanden was üba diesen "ich–mag–dich–Kram" wiss'n lass'n!
Das is' peinlich.
Sei's drum, das mit dem Mädchen krieg ich geregelt, aber ich brauch' Oma und Papa, damit sie mir was üba olle Texashuts "Wege" für die kommenden Jahre erzähl'n.
Also, Oma sagt: "Wir sind für einige Zeit mit Schwierigkeiten beladen.
Die Regierung braucht Geld, die Menschen brauchen Arbeit, beide Kriege gehen weiter und weiter und kosten mehr Menschenleben und Geld jeden Tag und olle Texashut spielt immer noch den totalen John Wayne, mit Kameras überall aber ohne Skript, das diesen/seinen oder unseren Schlamassel beendet!
In weiter Ferne: ein gutes Ende für irgend jemand!"
Papa sagt: "Die ganze Situation ist entmutigend, aber wir müssen einen Weg aus dieser Klemme finden, auch wenn olle Texashut ständig das Licht aus macht und Fett auf die 'Leiter nach draußen' schmiert, so schnell wie möglich, um zu versuchen, dass alle im Dunkeln bleiben und nach unten rutschen!
Er hofft, dass die Leute zu frustriert und müde sind, um seine Pläne zu stören, sich selbst zu befördern vom ollen Texashut zum Kaiser dem Ersten!"
Also hab' ich die Info für meine Schularbeit gekriegt und, obwohl das entmutigendes Zeugs is', werd' ich das aufschreib'n und hoff'n, dass ich den Drachen von ihrer guten Seite erwisch', wenn's Noten gibt.
Alles, was ich jetz' tun muss, is' locker bleib'n und mich gut um das süße Mädchen am Valentinstag kümmern!
Wenn olle Texashut mit seinem Trick durchgekomm' is', bin ich sicher, ich kann auch ein bißchen Magie bei dem süßen Mädchen anwenden!
Da wett' ich drauf!
Also, werd' ich drüba schlafen und mit Tatendrang aufwach'n –
