Help Me Stop Savage Nation
I have a request for all you faithful readers of the Oread Daily and others.
KMBZ radio in Kansas City airs the racist, homophobic, misogynist
rants of Michael Savage every night. One sponsor locally is Bob
Hamilton Plumbing, Heating & A/C.
It would be greatly appreciated if you went to http://www.bobhamiltonplumbing.com/Customer01.htm and told them that you and your friends would no longer use their services if they continued to sponsor such trash.
Anyway, thanks. |

So Bob Hamilton gets the message that people do listen to this program and hear his ad. So the show is controversial. It's all the more reason to keep advertising there.
What you're really up against: Is Bob getting results from these ads? People have a bad reaction to being threatened. Unless Bob knows that you or your friends are already existing customers you're bargaining with a lot of hot air anyway.
You could try a friendlier more persuasive approach. Tell Bob that there are better places to advertise and that his image is being tarnished by being associated with an offensive jerk like Savage.
Radio ads aren't cheap and there are a lot of other things he could do with the money. The point is don't threaten the guy. Suggest some constructive alternatives.
Ask Bob if he's getting results from these ads . Determine this first. If he's not, it won't be too hard to convince him to try something else. |
