How can we stop the endless cycle of rental discrimination.
I have become quite familiar with a young lady from St.Johnsbury Vt. whom is being evicted for what I beleve to be illeagle reasons.Number one this lady is dissabled with a chronic lung disorder which makes it very hard to breathe from time to time so cleaning is as you can imagine a difficult task. Her landlady and partners are evicting her fro what they call uncleanniness also for the reason that some of this ladys friends may or may not have used a small amount of foul language at a time.The landlady is trying to restrict the company this young lady keeps.Do we not reserve what is called a reasonable right to privacy when we pay rent.As far as the cleanniness goes no proper written notice of inspection was given. This coragous young woman is also the single mother of a young boy of fourteen who himself has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This lady went through a mental breakdown when she found out six years ago that she may die in six months.She beat those odds but in the maley some of her bills became very much behind and she is now being denied State housung because of arrears;is there no longer any compassion amoungst the masses.Please take this young ladys fight into your hands and help her to start life again on a clean slate. My name Is Leo C. Merchant I am a volunteer with Kingdom Community Services also Northeast Kingdom Community Action as well as the Boy Scouts of America District Committee Member at large and South Congergational Church emergency contact. All of these resorces and I seem to be at a standstill.Let's get together as Vermonters and take up this fight.
