Announcement: Protest Activity
Take some time to check out the Kansas City Direct Action Network website.
Peeps should check out and bookmark this cool website on local activism:

http://www.kcdirectaction.net/

The KC Direct Action Network attempts to aid activists and other socially concerned individuals in the Kansas City Metro Area to move out from behind protest signs to take an active role in their community.

KCDAN feels that it is necessary to implement a diversity of tactics when confronting issues we face today and we encourage people to identify their personal boundaries and limitations.

Although we are anti-authoritarian by nature, we do not intend to emphasize a single political philosophy. It is felt that in order to confront current problems, we must move beyond sectarianism and build a united movement.

Commentary: Protest Activity
Well, I was checking my stats today and found that kcdirectaction.net received 3 kcpd hits today. One of them coming from this page.

I in no way want to scare people from posting on either site, but I just thought I should share this brutal reminder of the State we are living in.

We dissent, therefor we threaten, therefor we are monitored.

Gotta love democracy.

Hey, thanks to the peeps whp put up that website!

I think that local activists need to do more work to promote these websites. I can help by creating some outreach and promotional materials. The KC IMC folks already have a business card for this website. What else can be done?

I've put together a very popular two-sided flyer that promotes the alternative media (http://www.infoshop.org/mediaguide.html). I can create a Kansas City version if people e-mail me info about local websites, groups, and periodicals.

wow yeah that would be great. Have you by chance come across the 5th Estate yet? Its an underground paper thats circulating in the city. I havent seen it in a while but I'm pretty sure its still around. I know one place you can probably get it is Prospero's Bookstore which is located at about 39th and Stateline.

If you haven't been there yet check it out!

Actually, thinking about it... If anyone from the 5th estate comes across this post and is interested, I'd be more than happy to setup a program on kc direct action if you wanted to have an online version as well. just let me know and I can work on setting it up.

if anyone knows any of their contacts let me know.
