King George Revisited
(A Second Chapter to “King George the ‘Liberator’”)
September 24, 2003
King George upon a hill
Bomb the village, burn the mill
Ain’t nothin’ left when he departs
But orphaned children and bleeding hearts
King George upon a hill
Muster the eager to search, seize, and kill
Including the innocent, poor and weak
This is horror of war at its near peak
King George upon a hill
Bring in the boys; bring in the tanks
Soon the people will bow down with thanks
Proliferating pedals of perfumed pansies—before his Lordship’s grace
King George upon a hill
Economic expansion, get your fill
By exploiting the worker and inferior race
Join us now, there’s no time to waste—for God and Country
King George upon a hill
Blessed be the sharpshooter,
Tanker and nuclear engineer
For they are true, without a care
For the child who lost his legs
Or the old man, starving along the road
Or the workers’ union’s downfall—
Slow and torturous or with a bang—does it make any difference? |
