On September 8, President Bush is coming to Kansas City to raise money for U.S. Senator Jim Talent's re-election campaign. President Bush will attend a $1000 per plate fundraiser at the home of Allison and Scott Ward, who is the CEO of Russell Stover Candy. Community groups and labor unions have organized a unified action on "Bush's War on Two Worlds" to oppose Bush's war in Iraq and his war against the middle class and poor in this country.
The Time for Change is Now
Proposition B, an initiative to raise Missouri's minimum wage from $5.15 to $6.50 per hour and tie increases in the minimum wage to the cost of living, will be on the November 7 ballot. It is critical that we send the message that if the federal government will not support its citizens by providing a livable wage that the people of Missouri will.
In June, Senator Talent again voted against a raise to the federal minimum wage, making the eleventh time that he has voted against increasing the minimum wage. The voters of Missouri plan to send a clear message that they will no longer support a President or Senator who has such little regard for the average American citizen.
