Networking: Consumers eying home networks
Chimpy W. Bushitler's friends buy home networking features to live in the lap of luxury while the rest of us comrades live in our poorly furnished moderate income housing.

New research indicates that demand for home networks -- to connect home theaters, security cameras, home lighting systems, and the like -- is increasing rapidly, even though the percentage of new homes which feature these broadband powered networks still remains relatively small.
Experts are telling United Press International's Networking column that many home buyers are asking builders to install the networks as a standard feature in new homes today.

Wireless World: 'Card-less' loyalty promos
Chimpy W. Bushitler's sick capitalist friends use manipulation to dupe you to buy worthless junk at the drug store.

So-called card-less loyalty programs are emerging that enable consumers to pay for their purchases with their mobile phones, and receive automatic updates on their account status, including extra savings, or planned promotions, via secure messaging service (SMS). No more cards to find in your cavernous wallet, or cash to pull out of your pocket. Just present your phone, and the credit card, linked to the phone account, is billed automatically by the merchant.
"Merchants can take advantage of cost-effective, high-impact interactive card-less loyalty programs, and let customers pay with their mobile phones, speeding check-out, and cutting costs by offering flexible payment options," a spokesman for MobileLime, a mobile marketing service, based in Watertown, Mass., told Wireless World. Networking: Portals for medical care
A patient refills her prescription for Diuril online, a high-blood-pressure medication, without having to walk down the street in the summer heat and wait for the local pharmacist to fill out the prescription.
Though rare today, Internet-based "patient portals," like the one at Detroit's Henry Ford Health System, which is a network of 24 primary-care centers that makes it one of America's largest healthcare systems, will become increasingly common in the future. By Gene Koprowski

Wireless World: Lifestyle now for boaters
Chimpy W. Von Bushitler's friends eat caviar and drive motor boats.

CHICAGO, June 23 (UPI) -- Captain Roger Sardina navigates the Sea Ray Run, a 40-foot-long Sundancer motor boat made by Brunswick, through the "Danger Spot A" of Burham Harbor on Lake Michigan, using the wireless global positioning system. We've just completed a quick cruise of the lake, on a very rainy morning here in Chicago, but the sea state -- the height and movement of the waves -- was relatively steady.

Today's luxury motorboats are outfitted with networks, wired and wireless, making them quite advanced, although not as state-of-the-art as one might encounter on a ship in the U.S. Navy. There are no anti-torpedo countermeasures, but there are GPS plotters, with prevalent color features, MP3 devices, satellite radio and TV systems, and satellite phones, as well as wireless Internet access systems, said Geoffrey W. Storms, vice president, high performance product development at Brunswick, during an on-board interview with Wireless World. By Gene Koprowski
