Thousands_march.jpg
Anti war protesters took to the streets of Lawrence, Kansas today and joined an estimated eleven million people in over 600 cities around the world for the largest demonstration of all time. "The World Says No To War" was an emotional plea by decent people everywhere to call for a halt of the Bush administration's upcoming invasion of Iraq before it begins. Many see the war on Iraq as unjustified and an immoral slaughter of innocents for oil and other natural resources. People from all walks of life and various religious and political backgrounds came together today to try and stop what many believe will be a holocaust resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Today's march down Massachusetts Street in Lawrence was coordinated by the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice and the Black Cat Anarchist Collective. The Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice has been holding a peace vigil every Saturday at 12 PM for about the last twenty weeks in front of the Douglas County Court House on 11th Street and Massachusetts Avenue. In the event of war, there will be a candle light vigil at 6 PM in front of the Court House on the day the war begins. If the war starts after 6, then the candle light vigil will be the following evening at 6 PM.

Great post Hudson, I hope we can work together early and often to keep everyone informed about what's going on the KC-Lawrence area via our site and yours.
